DAY 47 OF THE #RUN70 MILEAGE SERIES

Screen Shot 2017-07-01 at 8.40.33 AM.pngWhen I first woke up this morning I checked the weather and the forecast called for rain all morning leading into the afternoon with possible thunderstorms. Luckily, the sun poked through the clouds when I started my run around 11:00am this morning and weather stayed hot and humid at 20° with no rain. I wore my old shoes again (still waiting for my news ones to arrive) – my feet and legs felt good today and paced pretty slow again. My pre-workout meal this morning was oatmeal with 1% cottage cheese and whey isolate protein powder mixed in, which gave me good, steady energy.

I saw a six-story high, 13 tonne rubber duck floating in the labour front – which apparently the province had rented from July – August for $120,000…I continued listening to my book, The Red Hunter for about half my run then had a call with my amazing cousin, Sara. She’s a very inspiring person – a leadership facilitator, keynote speaker, writer, and so much more. As always, my conversation with her made the time fly by and before I knew it, I only had 1 km left to go 🙂

It was my girlfriend’s last day of school (she’s a high school teacher) so I decided to stop at St. Lawrence Market on my way back to pick up some fresh meat and seafood for a celebratory dinner – also to kick-off Canada Day Long weekend. I made Spanish Paella with black tiger shrimp and chicken sausage, arugula salad with candied walnuts and raspberries, smoked salmon and feta guacamole with homemade spinach chips, and Mission Hill Winery’s Chardonnay (my favourite winery).IMG_1258-1.JPGFullSizeRender-2.jpg

End pace was slow again at 6’23km/10’17mi after 2 hours 17 minutes and 11 seconds.
