DAY 24 OF THE #RUN70 MILEAGE SERIES

Screen Shot 2017-06-08 at 8.30.58 AMToday was one of my favourite runs so far and the duration felt like it went by the quickest! The weather was perfect at 20° and sunny with light winds. I received my new running shoes yesterday afternoon and decided to break them in today. Legs felt really good, but a bit sore on the inside of my right leg towards the end of the run. I’m used to this feeling using new shoes for the first time.

I went out for dinner  last night to Eastbound Brewing Co. and ate a lot – beer nuts, duck wings, a beef cheek dish, fries, and a few beers. Obviously still hungry when I got home, I ate an entire plate of pasta so wasn’t super hungry when I woke up this morning. My pre-workout meal was pretty light, I had a Vega Chocolate smoothie with strawberries, spinach and almond milk. I think last night’s carb load gave me sustained energy throughout my run.

A fellow long distance runner reached out and asked if he could join me one of runs during #RUN70. Mike Paquette is a very inspirational person. He’s 58 years old, has completed almost 180 full marathons in his lifetime, countless half marathons, and a half iron man. He joined me on day 24 and I had an awesome time with great conversation! This is the third person who’s joined me so far during the challenge it’s much more enjoyable than listening to my audiobooks. IMG_0900.JPG

End pace was faster than usual at 6’04km/9’45mi after 2 hours 10 minutes and 52 seconds.
