Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 6.50.29 AM.pngThis morning’s run was definitely the hottest and most humid one so far of this challenge. I was really excited to get this run over with because completing the 35th run meant that I’m officially half done the #RUN70 challenge!

I had some company for today’s run – Richard from Port Credit, a 7 time marathoner joined me. Running with others is always a nice change from just listening to my headphones. My pre-run meal was two energy balls and a protein smoothie – my girlfriend and I are trying a new brand called Crossfuel Whey Isolate Peanut Butter & Chocolate flavour. It doesn’t taste as good as Vega, but has 7g more protein (27g total) and 5.4g of BCAAs for endurance training. I mixed it with almond milk, egg whites, banana, and spinach. I haven’t noticed much a of a difference yet in terms of my energy levels on runs, but have only tried it once so far.

My body felt good today (less stiff than yesterday), but my breathing was a bit more heavy due to the thick, hot air and 30° temperature. In week 5, I was able to celebrate two huge milestones; reaching half way to the world record (60) as well as reaching my halfway point to #RUN70! I’m super excited to kick-off week 6 🙂

We paced really well today at 5’51km/9’25mi after 2 hours 6 minutes and 35 seconds.

*Follow my journey as I run 70 half marathons consecutively on behalf of Oneiric to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Any donation big or small makes a huge difference. To Donate, visit our #RUN70 Canadian Cancer Donation Page.
