Day 39 of the #RUN70 Mileage Series

Screen Shot 2017-06-23 at 5.06.12 AM.pngThis morning’s run has probably been the toughest one of the challenge yet. It started off pretty good, but my legs started feeling sore and my mind felt tired around the 13k mark. Weather was nice and cool at 18°-19°, but I got caught in a bit of heavy rain around the 19km mark (luckily at the end). I’ve been lucky the past few weeks with how my body has been reacting to the +21.1k distances and the consecutive runs with no rest days. Not going to lie – today was pretty bad. Although I’ve made it pretty far in this challenge so far, I still have a long way to go. It was certainly a setback and brought down my confidence a bit. Although it sucked, I feel like completing a major challenge or goal like #RUN70 requires some really hard days – otherwise, it wouldn’t feel as good to complete it. The journey so far has been amazing and I’ve said this before, but the support I’ve received has been incredible – the messages, notes and encouragement really help me through the hard days.

My pre-workout meal was the same, a protein smoothie and two energy balls. I started with some resistance training on arms and back and have been taking creatine for the last week to try and increase my muscle size so I don’t lose as much muscle. My way of trying to keep my muscle mass intact.

I ran the Waterfront Trail in Port Credit again- no bird attacks today, but I did have a close call with one right near the beginning of the trail (at Hurontario and Lakeshore).

My pace was probably the slowest yet at 6’26km/10’21mi after 2 hours 19 minutes and 34 seconds.
