Screen Shot 2017-07-15 at 1.12.14 PM.pngToday’s run was incredible to say the least. I broke the world record for the most consecutive half marathons run by a female (60), but it wasn’t easy. After reading The Happiness of Pursuit by Chris Guillebeau, I was inspired to do the 10k/day challenge back in January and the #RUN70 challenge. I decided to email him and in return, he was extremely receptive – writing about the challenge on his personal blog, chrisguillebeau.com and inviting me to attend the World Domination Summit in Portland, OR – a conference for unconventional thinkers.

For those that don’t know how WDS works, the week is comprised of attendee-led meet-ups, events, expeditions, activities, and incredible main stage speakers. The team at WDS helped me setup an event which WDS attendees could RSVP to run with me on my world record breaking day. Two runners joined me who were both incredible and inspiring athletes. Greg from San Francisco completed 8 full Iron Mans, is planning on doing his 9th in September along with a 50k ultra just two weeks before and Patrick is doing an insane 100 mile race in late September in Colorado. We had pretty amazing conversations to say the least. We ran north along the Willamette River into industrial area, back to the hotel in RiverPlace then finished the last 2k to Arlene Switzer Concert Hall.

The WDS 5k was finishing about the same time as our run and was greeted by many WDS’ers at the finish line (Arlene Switzer Concert Hall). My good friend Katie and girlfriend Alicia was also there and brought me some food, water, and a change of clothes.

This was definitely my favourite run so far and it felt great to break the record, but I’m not done yet. Still have 9 more runs to complete the #RUN70 Half Marathon Challenge.

Pace was decent today at 6’00km/9’39mi after 2 hours 9 minutes and 11 seconds.
