DAY 51 OF THE #RUN70 MILEAGE SERIES

Today’s run was a hot one – I left around 10:30am this morning and the temperature was very humid at 24°- 25°. I’m back in Port Credit today and was happy to do my old route again with quieter and less busy trails than Toronto’s waterfront. I pushed really hard today and paced my best so far of this challenge at an average of 5’14. My last 4km, I paced under 5’00 to try and beat yesterday’s PB. I got my best 21.1km this run as well at 1:50:21! Here’s a screenshot of my splits from Strava:

I didn’t eat a lot pre-workout and only had a Vanilla whey isolate protein smoothie with banana, mixed berries, peanut butter, egg whites, and almond milk. Due to the lack of calories, I felt my energy levels steadily decline after the 16k mark.

I finished my 8th book of the challenge, The Red Hunter by Lisa Unger and am excited to start a new one! Red Hunter was nowhere near as good as In The Blood, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I’m now officially 10 days away from breaking the world record for the most consecutive half marathons run – the countdown is on! 🙂
