Well I’m officially 1/7 (14%) of the way finished the challenge, but still have an enormous amount left to go. Here’s my recap after 10 days:
Distance: 211km
Time: 18 hours
Calories Burned: 13,443
Money Raised: $685/$10,000
After yesterday’s tough run, I was anxious to get out the door and also worried that the soreness in my legs would get even worst. I felt okay for the first half (10.5k mark), but definitely felt some pain in my right glutes and stopped to stretch a few times. The last 3k was tough so I paced super slow. The weather was great once again at 17° and overcast.
My pre-run meal consisted of a protein smoothie with egg whites, Icelandic yogurt, banana, strawberry yogurt, spinach and almond milk and gave me pretty consistent energy throughout my run. Post-run I used a foam roller, iced my knees for 20 minutes, and stretched out my calves and quads.
My pace today was the slowest so far and I feel like as I progress through this challenge, it’s going to get slower. My pace was 6’27km/10’23mi after 2 hours 16 minutes and 51 seconds on day 10.*Follow my journey as I run 70 half marathons consecutively on behalf of Oneiric to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
