I started a new book by Peter Swanson called Her Every Fear, which started off really slow and was probably one of the reasons today’s run felt so long. When I’m listening to a really good book, it makes the time pass so quickly. Everyone always asks me if I get bored after running for 2 hours, and the answer is yes. Sometimes I do. If I can distract my brain with a good read, phone call or chat with a fellow runner, it makes the time go by 10x faster. I’ve realized this early on into the challenge and have stuck with reading highly rated fictional books for about 80% of my runs to help the time pass quicker. It also distracts my mind from any soreness my body in enduring. A new tactic I’ve picked up lately is to switch to listening to some pump up music for the last 3k or so to drive some faster splits at the end.
Only 3 more runs until I beat the world record! 🙂
Pace was the same as yesterday at 6’06km/9’49mi after 2 hours 11 minutes and 11 seconds.
