This morning’s run was an early one. I had to be in Waterloo for early afternoon to meet with my mentors so had to leave the house for my run around 5:45am. I need about an hour in the morning to have coffee, eat, do a bit of work, and get my mind mentally prepared before I leave for my run. That meant, I was up at 4:30am – it was a tiring day to say the least. I mentioned in yesterday’s blog post, that Day 39 had been probably been the toughest run I’ve done so far in this challenge; physically – my legs were sore and heavy. Mentally – the distance felt way longer than it usually does.
Today’s run was much better. I felt more awake despite the early wake-up and my body felt more nimble and strong. I was also excited to complete my 40th day of the challenge — another milestone! The weather was warm at 20° with light rain. With just 4k left I got caught in another torrential downpour, but it felt nice and refreshing with the hot temperature.
My pre-workout meal has been the same. I’ve experimented and found what works best for me and usually stick to it (unless I get bored). A high protein smoothie with 5.4g of BCAAs, almond milk, spinach, and egg whites accompanied by 2 energy balls.
I’ve now complete 40 days into the challenge – here’s a recap of some major metrics:
Distance: 897km/557.58mi (21 marathons)
Calories: 61,080 (20 lbs of fat)
Time: 294 hours
Total money raised: $1,575/ $10,000
My pace was back to normal at 6’06km/9’48mi after 2 hours 11 minutes and 2 seconds.
