Out of genuine curiosity I was searching through the Canadian Patent Database at various  hockey equipment patents and came across this gem.

A patent was filed in 1998 under the name, “A PROTECTOR FOR HOCKEY PLAYER” and it resembles something a knight would wear before a jousting even in medieval times.

Not sure if the inventors actually produced and sold the “protector”, but as a hockey player, I’ve never witnessed anyone sporting one of those badboys.
