DAY 30 OF THE #RUN70 MILEAGE SERIES

Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 12.03.51 PM.pngToday was a big run for me and I was super excited to get to this day because after I completed this run, I would be running everyday for one consecutive month and half way to the world record (60 half marathons). The weather was a bit cooler today at 22° and overcast with a little tiny bit of rain which actually felt really nice. I’m back in Port Credit this week and excited to run along the beautiful Waterfront Trail – I’m still skipping a few sections though that are heavily infested with the black birds with red wings (to avoid bird attacks).

Day 30 was a really tough run and it was my own fault. I had my pre-workout meal – a Vega Vanilla smoothie with banana, blueberries, spinach, egg whites, almond, and peanut butter 2 hours before my run (you could imagine how hungry I must’ve been). I didn’t even think about the timing of when I ate until I started getting extremely hungry at around the 10.5k mark. I could feel my energy going down substantially around 12.5k. Knowing that I still had quite a bit to go, I had to try and push it out of my mind. As soon as I got back, I drank another high protein smoothie (in record time) and felt better. Did a nice stretching session and iced my knees.

I couldn’t help but smile after I finished today and am so thankful (and genuinely surprised) from all the amazing support, messages, comments, and donations I’ve received since beginning this challenge. There are some really hard days where my body is super sore, I’m mentally exhausted, and just “don’t feel like”, but the support from the running community, strangers, friends and family really helps push me out the door.

Despite having really low energy the second half of my run, I paced pretty well at 6’06km/9:49mi after 2 hours 11 minutes and 29 seconds.
