Today’s run was really though. My whole body felt sore and my legs felt heavy and tired. As much fun and exciting this challenge has been, today, I just wished it would be over. The weather was hot again at 21°- 22°, but overcast and a little cooler than yesterday. I’m definitely feeling the July heat and keep telling myself to get out the door earlier, but get so caught up in my work that I don’t end up leaving until close to 9:00am. I mentioned this in another post, but I need a solid chunk of time in my morning to do my work (3.5-4 hours) before heading out on my runs. With the long distances and heat, my body and mind feels very tired after I return and my productivity (work-wise) declines steadily throughout the day. I try to fit in an afternoon 20-30min nap or a large coffee to get my second wind later in the day.
I made a new batch of energy balls last night and had two of those pre-workout; dates, peanut butter, shredded coconut, plain protein powder, hemp seeds, and chia seeds. I also had a vanilla whey protein smoothie with banana, spinach, peanut butter, almond milk, and egg whites.
The last 4k was a struggle and hoping tomorrow will be better.
Slow pace today at 6’00km/9’39mi after 2 hours 10 minutes and 9 seconds.
