Today definitely took the most out of me to get out the door. My company Oneiric was doing a video shoot for an upcoming product launch all day so I needed to start my run at 5:30am. Unlike my regular runs I do (10k or shorter), I need to make sure I have coffee and eat enough before I start my 21k’s- otherwise, my muscles cramp, I get hungry, and have low energy the entire time. I ran out of Power Gel’s today so threw a banana into my Vega smoothie for longer lasting energy. Taking all this into consideration as well as my pre-run stretches, I was up at 4:30am – my earlier wake up time so far. I imagine it won’t be my last.

The trails we’re empty and my girlfriend accompanied me for the first 4k then got her bike, caught up with me and biked alongside as I did the half – it was a huge help to motivate me. Plus she carried a back pack with another banana and a G2 🙂

I ran farther down the Waterfront Trail today in Port Credit – it was another cool morning at 7°, but the sun was out and perfect for running. I also got to see the sunrise over the water which made the run relaxing and really enjoyable.

I was at a pitch event on Friday night until about 10pm and didn’t end up going to bed until after 11 – despite only 5 hours of sleep, I was pretty happy with my pace at 6’08/9’52mi after 2 hours 12 minutes and 6 seconds.

Tomorrow is support to rain all day in Toronto and will also be my first week of the #RUN70 challenge.

*Follow my journey as I run 70 half marathons consecutively on behalf of Oneiric to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Any donation big or small makes a huge difference. To Donate, visit our #RUN70 Canadian Cancer Donation Page.
