DAY 8 OF THE #RUN70 MILEAGE SERIES

Screen Shot 2017-05-22 at 1.43.44 PMThis morning’s run was awesome. 2 hours of running sometimes feels like an eternity and those last 3 kilometres seem like they never end. Today was different – not sure why. The time and kilometres passed quickly and for my 8th day, I paced pretty well. The only issue I had was a bit of soreness along the left side of my left foot (anatomically speaking, the peroneus longus tendon) for the first few kilometres. It started feeling back to normal around the 8k mark and was fine for the rest of the run.

I started a new audiobook called I Let You Go – I’m really enjoying listening to fictional books on my runs. Before I begun this challenge, I usually stick to listening to non-fiction in my favourite categories; business, productivity or self development. I look forward to heading out the door so I can continue my book. Even though I want to continue listening so bad after I finish working out, I cut myself off until tomorrow’s run. It helps push me to get out the door in the morning and gives me something to look forward to.

This morning I had another Vega smoothie (same ingredients as usual) and a slice of leftover homemade pizza – sweet potato crust, tomato sauce, green pepper, shiitake and cremini mushrooms, black olives, and spicy soppressata. The mix of carbs and protein gave me long lasting energy and I wasn’t hungry at all during my run.

Weather was perfect at 13°, overcast and a bit cool, but caught a bit of sun.

IMG_0606.JPGI was happy with my final end pace at 5’49km/9’22mi after 2 hours 5 minutes and 57 seconds.
